Middleweight Designer:

As a small design and fabrication studio, we have a firm emphasis on practicality. We see almost all of our work through from conception to completion and rely on carefully planned production strategies to deliver jobs on time. This can be challenging at times as we specialise in marketing, fashion and retail events on short timescales with frequently changing briefs.

We love expanding our craft, processes and materials, and the challenges brought to us by our clients. All of our work is ambitious in one way or another, and we strive to improve our practice with every new experience.

You:

You are a well organised and self motivated designer with a good level of experience creating proposals and design drawings for client briefs. Fabrication experience is not essential, but you will need to understand basic construction principles as your drawings will quickly become reality. We are here to help with this and hope that you will enjoy the direct relationship between design and production as much as we do, want to get involved with the problem solving on all levels, and don't mind getting your hands dirty.

You might come from an artistic or a design background, but you have great communication and critical thinking skills and aren't afraid to share your opinion. You must also be able to express your ideas well on paper in a coherent and visually seductive manner.

Skills:

We are always open to new methodologies, but the following hard skills are of particular importance:

  • Sketchup
  • Sketchup Layout
  • (Any other CAD applications that you have experience with: Rhino, Cinema 4D, etc)
  • Good rendering ability
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Spreadsheets (Numbers or Excel)
  • Fusion 360 (useful but not essential)
  • Animation - Ability to create moving images will be very useful
  • Photography and retouching

Salary:

Salary is to be considered on a case by case basis, according to skill level and experience.
